What is "reenacting"?
Reenacting is a hobby which entails the
study and portrayal of a particular culture in a place in time. Usually
the participants attempt to demonstrate realistic clothes, life-styles,
arms and issues in a period accurate way.
What are the goals of this group?
Fjellborg Viking Reenactor Society,
portrays the Scandinavian people and those they affected during what's
known as the classical Viking age between 793 A.D. through 1088 A.D.
What Fjellborg VRS is NOT!
We do not have trolls or bugbears,
fairies or Tolkien type characters in our group. Nor do we fight
against storm troopers from any galaxy far far away. What's different
about reenacting is we are a "living history" group. Another term that
may apply is "living museum".
We are not a "front group" for any
religious calling. Members may portray individuals with Heathen or
Pagan beliefs or they may be Christian Vikings. Members personal
beliefs are their own, much as however they wish to portray their
character. But their portrayal must be within the scope of realistic
historical reason. Nor do we require membership in any other
organization or of any political calling. Lastly, we do not
discriminate against any race, ethnic or profiled group, sexual,
political or other. It is our mission statement to study the Viking age
and to have fun practicing "living history". Our intention is to be
inclusive to anyone with a passion for learning history.
