Ulf's shield is made for modern combat displays, safety and protection. Fjellborg members generally construct our combat shields from plywood or other expendable material, figuring on them being damaged soon enough. Our display shields are done with more emphasis on period authentic materials and construction.
This shield has a plywood core with cloth covering front and back in order to hide the plywood. Paint covers the front face. Ulf hand made his iron mounts and leather strap ends for the shield baldric. He placed the baldric's mounting locations according to known archeological discoveries.
