For this dress, Astrid didn't have enough material to make it out of one piece of material, so she combined two different fabrics. She isn't wealthy enough to have a lot of fabric on hand, yet!
In mainland Sweden, a wrap-around apron dress is more common, or a similar look with a shorter front peice. The narrower piece is the front piece, and the wider piece is the back. This is a typical look for women from Gotland.
These loops hook into Astrid's brooches.
Here is one of Astrid's shoes. The shoe is a 'turn shoe' in that some of the seams were stitched inside-out, then the shoe was turned right-side out. Then the part along the top was stitched. This is a common style of shoe for where she is from, though Astrid would love to have fancier shoes someday, maybe with some straps that hook on the side.
These pouches are made from a hand-spun brown wool. They have held various things; presently they are holding some glass beads that Astrid has traded some nalbound mittens for and the small one has her bone needle in it.
Here is a close-up of Astrid's belt. It is tablet woven of wool yarns. Astrid would be happy to explain how tablet weaving works if you are interested!
