Out front are a collection of helmets starting in the pre-classical Viking age. They include the Sutton Hoo helm, from about the 620's CE. a Vendel style goggle helm with cheek guards. The Coppergate helm with a brass boar on the crest, dateing from the 7th Century CE. The Gjermundbu spectacle helm, considered to be the classic Viking helm. An eyebrow Spangenhelm used from 800 to 1000CE. Then lastly, the St. Wenceslaus helm, which was used from 900 to 1300 CE.
